Calling all Texas anglers and outdoor enthusiasts alike! Mark your calendars for the third-annual Fly Fishing & Brew Festival at the Plano Event Center. If you’re an avid angler or just looking for a new hobby, this event is for you! Plano’s state-of-the-art venue provides you the opportunity to view the latest fly fishing gear, learn from the experts, and sample some of Texas’ finest micro-brews.
The Festival (March 23rd-24th)
The Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival celebrates the sport of fly fishing in all its glory. You’re going to join Lone Star State expert anglers, professional outdoor photographers, fly fishing guides, fly fishing kayakers, and the best gear manufacturers in the industry at this festival. If you’re new to this quiet sport, here’s fair warning: the sport is especially addicting!
The festival will also host a variety of lectures and demonstrations. Beginners can learn to cast and practice the art of tying flies. Seasoned anglers can improve their skills and share their experiences with some of the best fly fishers in the Lone Star State. Additionally, lectures will be given about intriguing fly fishing destinations such as Alaska. If you’re game, take the opportunity to brush up your knowledge about saltwater fly fishing, as well. You’ll soon be ready to explore on your own with the knowledge you glean.
To go where the fish are, whether it’s a saltwater marsh or remote river, you’ll certainly want a sturdy kayak. If you aren’t particularly sure about fishing in a kayak, try it first at an indoor demonstration. Let the experts help you get fitted safely into a kayak so you can land a big one.
The Brews at the Fly Fishing & Brew Festival
Event attendees who are 21 years of age or older can enjoy a variety of Texas’ most delicious micro-breweries. On-site brewers will serve samples to attendees, and tasting tickets are provided. Beer will also be available for purchase on festival grounds, so you can grab a brew to take along to your next lecture.
Participating breweries include:
- Four Corners
- SweetWater Brewery
- Real Ale Brewing Company
- Tupps Brewery
- Oak Highlands Brewery
