Whether you like truffles, dark chocolate bark, or bonbons, you can find these sweet treats and more at the following shops near Marquette at Preston Park:
Dude, Sweet Chocolate
The idea for Dude, Sweet Chocolate began at a Dallas dive bar where Chef Katherine Clapner and Redding May were regulars. During the 2008 holiday season, he asked Katherine to make chocolates that he could give to clients as gifts. She enjoyed it so much that she soon began selling her creations at local farmers markets. From there, the idea for a brick and mortar store was born. The shop strives to stand out by maintaining an intense focus on the quality of the chocolates, and choices include Irish Car Bomb Truffles, Fruity Crack Dark Chocolate Bark, and Loco for Coco Bars.
While helping run her family’s Canadian hotel, Mary See created her own chocolate recipes. When her husband passed away in 1919, she moved to Pasadena, California with her son and daughter-in-law. Mary continued to create the delicious treats in her kitchen and her son used them to open the first See’s Candies in Los Angeles. She took pride in making the recipes with the finest and freshest ingredients, and it is a tradition that the store still carries on today. The selection includes Milk Butterchews, Chocolate Walnut Fudge, and Milk Chocolate Drops.
