Do you enjoy playing tennis, golf, or soccer? If so, you’ll love what the Plano Parks and Recreation Department can offer you. Nationally accredited, the department provides an array of activities that contribute to the health and wellbeing of all Plano residents. If you’re in the area this fall, be sure to check out these Plano Parks and Recreation facilities.
High Point Park Tennis Center
For over forty years, the High Point Tennis Center has helped players improve their skills. It features twelve lighted outdoor courts and one of the best-stocked pro shops in Texas. Weekday classes are offered throughout the year, along with private lessons and adult workout classes for improving serves, groundstrokes, and volleys.
The center also boasts eight pickleball courts. A unique sport, pickleball blends the elements of several racquet sports and is played with a wiffle ball on a badminton court. The game has grown in popularity over the last fifty years and boasts nearly three million players in the United States.
Pecan Hollow Golf Course
Pecan Hollow has been a Metroplex favorite since 1973. It spans over 7,000 yards of green, with tree-lined fairways and white sand bunkers thrown into the bargain. The course was fully renovated in 2010, and the five sets of tees offer a challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Pecan Hollow also offers a short course for players who want to improve their wedge games.
Go Ape Treetop Adventure
Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve is Plano’s largest park. If you’re looking for a thrill, you’ll want to try the Go Ape! zip lining course.
From 28 feet up in the woodland canopy, you’ll navigate forty crossings with varying obstacles before descending to the ground on one of four ziplines. The longest zipline is 423 feet, and each high-rope adventure usually lasts about two to three hours.
All in all, these Plano Parks and Recreation Facilities offer plenty of value for everyone.
