Jack-o-lanterns are grinning at us from doorsteps and spooky ghosts dangle in doorways. Halloween is nearly here and with it comes plenty of awesome events near your Marquette at Preston Park apartments. One of these great events combines good exercise, some Halloween fun, and a good cause–the Haunt Jaunt Night 5K and Fun Run at Oak Point Park.
This Halloween-themed run takes place on Saturday, October 15th. The nighttime event is hosted by the City of Plano in an effort to provide its citizens with a safe way to celebrate the season and raise funds to benefit the Plano’s Adapted Recreation Programs. The Adapted Recreation Programs provide recreational activities for citizens with special needs.
Check-in for the run opens at 5:15 pm. A one-mile fun run kicks off at 6:30 pm–this is a great alternative to the 5K for families with small children. Family fun continues at 7 pm with a costume parade and prizes. At 7:25 pm, the Haunt Jaunt 5K begins, with prizes being awarded at 8:15 pm. The 5K path meanders through the nature preserve on paved trails, offering a great surface and a chance to take in the beauty of the park. A flashlight or headlamp is not required, but runners are welcome to bring these items to assist in darker areas. To make things even more fun, In-and-Out Burger will be on site with a free burger for each participant.
The fee for the 5K run is $35, and the one-mile fun run is $10 per child (each child’s adult companion runs for free). This event is a great way to enjoy Halloween while also raising money for a good cause. Please feel free to contact us for more information about this and other upcoming events in your area.
